New Dinghy!
Submitted by yak on Mon, 2011-02-07 10:46
Just bought a new dinghy, its a 4m quintrex with a 30 hp yammy to push it along. So hopefully should serve me well
Just wondering if anyone knows many goods spots in and around perth, river or ocean, NOR, SOR doesn't matter too much as long as the tinny can handle the conditions.
Any suggestions?

you need to get your safery gear sorted and a sounder
you need flares, radio and epirb.
then the three mile off Mindarie/Hillarys/ Ocean reef are good places to start.
Head out to sea three miles and will see lumps. A good starting point is to sound near cray pots.
If you want to try skippy/whiting/ herring Burns rocks off burns beach is an easy find, as is little island off Hillarys or Eglinton rocks north or Mindarie .
Just burley up and use smaller hooks and fish will come to you and a squid or two.
Wise man says - first take the plank out of your own eye before trying to take the speck out of somebody else's.

cockburn sound is a good
cockburn sound is a good place to start. Squid and KG whiting can be caught if you head out early enough

dont need a epirb in close
dont need a epirb in close around perth. have a look in your RST book for the exclusion zones.

I agree with cockburn sound.
I agree with cockburn sound. I took my new boat for a few runs in the river first just to suss everything out before I went out ocean way. But once everything was sorted, ended up hitting garden and carnac quite a bit. Pick your days but! If your outside the islands and the weather goes wrong you will be in trouble. probably best to stay inside the islands with a dinghy. Plenty of spots around the sound but for pinkies, kg's etc.
Good luck with it!
