Yep. touch screens a bit gimmicky for tailer fishing boats, I will go Raymarine non touch screen C series option for my next sounder.

Touch-Screen is awesome for access, planning, scrolling and nav work (even with semi-dirty fingers).
But I'd always want a button option too.
My Simrad NSS has buttons & dial, which is great to use if the hands are dirty.
The buttons & dial are also HEAPS easier to use on the move if it's a bit rough.

Touch screens have been
Touch screens have been around for a great many years,
When a certain command/area is used a lot, the screen will default.
That is in controlled airconned HV switch rooms with dust supression etc.
Throw in salt water, direct sunshine and all the other stuff from dirty/fishy fingers on a boat in the ocean and a default is a real possibility.
Just my oppinion and therefore not important, just my take and expierience with touch screens.
Get what tickles your fancy and enjoy.

Sure there must be good in
Sure there must be good in them.
It is only my expierience due to working with them that I preceive these shortcomings so no big deal.
I am installing my new system and did look at them, but did not purchase a touch screen operated unit.
My choosen one has just good old buttons and knobs.

Fair enough. This unit has hot keys as well as touch screen . I'm just waitng for them to invent a unit that can control with your mind, that's got to be the final frontier
