Hi we really like this forum and have decided to join. We have a small tinny car topper and a 26ft glass boat named Bluebone. We love to go out in Cockburn Sound squidding, fishing for whiting and flat head around Garden and Carnac, and get out in our boat as often as we can. Last school hols we took the kids to Coral Bay and Exmouth. They loved the Spangled Emperor at Coral Bay Beach. Any way we hope to be able to add to this great site

Thanks everyone for the warm
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. You are right this site is addictive and we love reading Fishwrecked Reeltime, the stories and pictures are great. We will post up the odd story of our family adventures....we do not go too far from shore.....skipper/husband has been very patient with the crew who are still getting their sea legs....learning more all the time.

it doesnt matter how far you
it doesnt matter how far you get off land its the fact that you guys get out and fish as a family as my wife boys and i do, and in the meantime having loads of fun and getting the fish is a bonus

Patience
Hmmm Ok LOL. Best you guys get a little more addictive otherwise the patience may wear out. My wife is the same.. very reuctant to go out so I stay on the land. You know, I really think it's a bit about going to the loo that holds the women back LOL. The same applies to us land based fishermen. Dunes don't always offer the best protection..

Yeah we love to go out in
Yeah we love to go out in the boat and it is easier for the kids to fish from the boat than the land. They can not cast that far. Just to see their faces when they catch a fish especially a keeper it is just magic and I would not miss that for anything. They live for fishing. If the weather is too bad to go out they draw their favorite fish and want to fix up their lines and paw over the tackle boxes
A few years back the kids would freak out if a boat went past when we were on the river. Now we can get out to Carnac and Garden Island and come home with the sea breeze in. We have also been to Rottnest a few times.
We do have a porta toilet and the only trouble I have is when the boat is at anchor say at Carnac and the breeze blows us around and the big launch behind us has a clear view of our cabin.......mmmmm.....then I get a bit shy.

my wife has the same prob with big boats behind but you can solve that easily with a towel or sheet of some sort, have done that a couple of times

You are right about getting
You are right about getting a fish is a bonus for a day on the water. We often will go out and come home with nothing or may be one or two whiting and a couple of squid depending on where we have been for the day. But while we have been out we have seen dolphins, sealions, and fish (which we can not seem to catch)and had a great time together.
I usually cook up some lunch on the boat with a small portable butane burner and if it is a warm day we might stop and let the kids have a play on the beach at Pig Trough Bay Garden Island.....the possibilities are endless. The towel/privacy shield idea is a good one and we have deployed this option on the odd occasion when required.
