New pint-sized jig reel: Ajiking Pro Jigger

Hey guys

Just a heads up on the new Ajiking Pro Jigger for anyone interested in light PE 2-4 jig reels.

Specs for the reel are as follows:

  • weighs 400g
  • high speed gear ratio of 6.0:1
  • 6 stainless steel ball bearings
  • max drag 15kg carbon drag washers
  • twin position handle options
  • lever drag
  • aircraft grade aluminium housing
  • deep spool holds up to 360m of PE 4
  • available in red, blue, green, silver or gold

Here's the glamour shot of the reel:

With a couple of extra shots to illustrate the actual size:

... versus Saltist 30 (size comparison only)

... versus Nokia N95

... versus my hand

You can find a bit more detail and the colour options on our website: http://www.fourfish.com.au/index.php?p=4_6

Cheers

Yeah I'm sure the MXL was a source of inspiration for the PJ.  Few differences there, price included.

Are these a new model? Seen the reels before, and someone mentioned there was a new model coming up but not sure when the revision was supposed to come out?

I have doubts it really is quite as strong as claimed. 15kg drag pressure means you could run PE5-8 on it... whether it would hold up to that for long is a different question. Though they're pretty light as a lighter class overhead reel anyways. Seemed pretty cheap too (perhaps enough to at least find out how they last).

Not fair to compare it to a saltist 30 though, seems more comparable to a saltist LD20 (or avet SX as mentioned)

Yeah as far as I know these

Yeah as far as I know these are the Gen 2 models, main change I know of is the bearings have been upgraded.

Thx for the pickup with the Saltist 30, the comparison was solely for size as I was assuming most people would know the size of that reel.  I didn't think that  people might see it as a like-for-like comparison. Will edit the comment.

terrible gearing (IMO) for a jigging reel.

I'll stick with my LD30.

The LD30 has a 6.3:1 ratio..... (unless you have a two speed and only use low). Pretty similar (considering spools are similar size hence gear ratios are roughly comparable)

gear ratio of 6 for jigging is crap.

If it's the same size as my avet sx, then 6:1 gearing is fine, because the spool is so small.

Better off buying a PE3 or 4

Better off buying a PE3 or 4 Jigging Master reel or Blue Heaven if you have the cash. I love my PE4 limited matte black JM reel though :)

Giant snapper from Jurien

So what if it's got a "crap" gear ratio and doesn't break the bank like a blue heaven, 42cm is legal north of Lancelin!
