new plastics rod
Submitted by wickky on Thu, 2015-01-22 17:17
Ive had a search but rods come out all the time so thought i would ask again.
Will be running a biomaster 5000 with pe2 so looking at a pe1-3 rod.
Ive had suggested the fwa plastics rod and a catalina.
Just after some more suggestions. Will be used soley for plastics and willing to spend up to around 500max
Thanks zac

I will start with the
I will start with the obvious, this has been done a few times before so the search button is worth a look.
There are so many sweet rods out there, but I have a few favourites and a few that I seriously considered.
- the Catalina is a nice rod but didn't really catch my eye
- Eupro Giant King does a pe 1-3 which is awesome value, you could probably even go a model lighter if for SP's
- I haven't seen one for a while but I have done some damage with a Jigging Game, pe 1-2.5 if I remember right
- I'm currently experimenting with a Majorcraft Alexander in the pe 1-3 & 1.5-3 for jigs. There are also the Crostage models which aren't quite as expensive
- Jigging Master now do a an Ocean God XUL pe 0.8-2.5, definitely worth a look
Can't comment on the FWA rods
I'm only assuming these rods based on what you've mentioned, water depth may change your consideration.
I'm sure a few others will chime in, everyone always has a favourite. Don't be scared to change it up if your not happy with your choice. Light is good!
Good luck

+1 for Majorcraft
I recently too bought a Majorcraft Alexander SP 63/3 rated to 120gm and fish PE 2 on on a Ryoga. It's perfect for plastics being soft and a bit longer but has some real strength down low in the butt. Been very impressed so far.

Whatever rod you get I would
Whatever rod you get I would advise 7ft in length and fast taper, as this helps work a plastic better than a shorter parabolic jig rod.
I have a FWA 8-10kg SP rod and works well for me, though I haven't used any other models.

I had my bio 5k on a gomoku
I had my bio 5k on a gomoku only running 20lb, thing snapped after a few trips out fishing. Talking to the boys in tackle shop they've had a heap come back snapped too. Waay better rods out there then them.
i use a ns blackhole atm and it's an awesome piece of kit can't fault it.
also seen a few blokes use AJN rods on charters and they seem to work well.

Must Be the luck of the draw,
Must Be the luck of the draw, my gomokus are still going strong. but definatly agree on above statment about a longer rod being better for plastics than your shorter jigging rods.
