new rod, any suggestions?

im looking at getting a new rod for sambo jigging that i can use for throwing a popper around for gt's of the boat and large lures when im up north. is there a versatile rod like this of the shelf or is it wishful thinking. what would you guys suggest? thinking of spending around $300
