The new rods on the market

Has anyone tried out the new Azusa rods yet?I know a few on the sidelines here have bought them of lateWink. They look the goods and a very well priced for what you get imo. They are built by the guy that designed most of the older saltiga rods. This guy knows his stuff heyLaughingI am sure a few good fish are going to fall to these rods in the coming couple of months. Will get a couple before my next trip out and give them a crack as well.

The other thing i rate with them

Mon, 2010-11-01 20:49

is the fact that some models you can customise the butt piece to suit yourself. All you do is order a new bottom section and screw it on job done.If you google azusa fishing tackle-products you will get the idea.If you google azusa pics you will get whom they may well have been named after.Laughing

all the boys have been mucking around with them in the shop and to be honest they load up nicely and feel great. as for the k guide yes they do look ugly but they do serve a perpose . a few boys have already purchased a few will be interested to see how they went over the weekend. i think youll be pretty hard strapped to find a rod of this quiality in the price range with so many styles (light spin rods to popping gear) and as mentioned desined by yoshi who is a legend by himself.

Are these the guides. If so they are damn ugly and old fashioned looking, but also look solid.

Saw them after the post above when my brain got into gear. When I googled Azusa rods (not just Azusa!! LOLTongue out) I saw that ugly yellow rods with ugly guides.

The Ks do look funny and odd, but so did the original Fuji guides. I thought no way would they be strong enough, and obviously have been proven wrong.

In a year or 2 we will probably love them and only want them on our rods.

deadlift?

Tue, 2010-11-02 18:12

Shouldn't you be able to deadlift whatever the max drag rating is? Just a matter of keeping the right line angle.

I used a prototype Azusa 702M at the Monties on a few Macks a couple months back, felt great in hand and loaded up nicely. Guides do look whack but I had no tangles while casting poppers and stickbaits, I would recommend one great value for money rods.
