Assassin Tackle is a proudly and wholly Australian owned and operated wholesaler of innovative and award winning fishing rods and tackle. Drawing from the experience of our South African based parent company of over 40 years, Assassin Tackle's products were first tested, designed and manufactured for international level competition fishing. The result of this work is now available to you, the Australian angler, to benefit from and enjoy.

As a family-run enterprise, Assassin tackle runs on the passion of local fishermen, and none more than our own experienced team. Our products have been designed, adapted and tested in local conditions and for local species, for both land and boat-based fishing.

As wholesalers we will bend over backwards to work with tackle stores to stock and promote our products, if we believe in their enthusiasm and their technical understanding of our products. We welcome all feedback on our products as we strive to maintain the world class acclaim of our Assassin brands of tackle. If you are battling to find a store to supply your needs, contact us, we will gladly assist.

We believe the proof in the effectiveness of our rods and tackle is found in using them. We know you won't be disappointed.

Check out our gallery for some of the incredible catches, every single catch using the Assassin family of products, including the world renown Assassin rods, CID GT Icecream surface plugs and CID Iron Candy metal spoon lures.

In fact, if you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase of our world-class product, we will credit or replace it. Please read our simple return policy for details.

A Message From Barry Wareham (From Our Parent Company)

I still hold many South African records and I know that many South African records have been caught on Assassin rods and on our GT Icecream plugs & Iron Candy lures as well. The most recent of which is the South African record for a Snoek or Queen Mackerel, which I have broken twice on Iron Candy and currently, hold the senior South African record. My son, Blayne, has the junior South African record, also caught on an Iron Candy. The only records that currently cover shore angling are those of SASAA (South African Shore Angling Association) who do not separate lure caught fish from bait caught fish and only have one open class.

Some of the fish that we are catching on these light rods with braid, small reels and lures are really amazing and there really should be a separate category for this style or type of fishing.

I wrote a Guide to Fishing on Skis and Kayaks a number of years ago and Barry Rebeck, a South African angler and a well-known businessman (ex Managing Director of Beacon Sweets), provided a short introduction to me on the back cover.

“Barry Wareham is one of South Africa’s most accomplished anglers who I have had the pleasure of knowing and fishing with over many years. Over those years I have come to recognize a mind constantly alert and questioning and one that puts together a series of noticed events, natural phenomena and often well camouflaged marine observations to come up with a new way and a better way of achieving success in angling. Whilst his South African colours were earned in the extremely competitive world of Rock and Surf (Shore) Angling, he is equally at home enticing a Kingfish or a Trout on a fly, outwitting a Bass on a surface popper, tempting a Tiger fish, or unraveling nature’s riddles to excel as an angler whether on lake, river, estuary or sea.”

About Barry Wareham

Barry Wareham has been involved in competitive angling for many years, at national and international level. He has captained both provincial and national teams and is a past president of the South African Shore Anglers Association and the KwaZulu Natal Shore Anglers Union. He is a founding member of SAFTAD (South Africa Fishing Tackle Agents and Distributors) and still serves on that committee.

Barry has fished extensively in many different countries including in an unofficial South African team that attended Australian inter-state tournaments in Geraldton, Western Australia and also on the East Coast at Rainbow Beach near Fraser Island. He is also part of the Off The Chart fishing adventure television series team and supplies the fishing tackle and talents for the show.

Barry and his team in South Africa will be working very closely with Shaun, Gary and Matt at Assassin Tackle Australia Pty Ltd in ensuring they benefit from over 40 years of his and his team’s experience.

One of the other partners, Derrick Akal started the fishing tackle division in the family owned company Akals in 1972, one of the largest tackle wholesalers in South Africa. He started the fishing tackle trade shows in South Africa around 1980, which has grown to become a national event with all wholesalers participating.

Brands

The bigger brands include Assassin fishing rods, CID Iron Candy spoons and CID GT Ice Cream surface plugs. The Assassin rods were the first products into Australia and small quantities used to be stocked in Perth and Qld. At that stage it was only surf rods and there were three in the range. Since then Basil Manning Fishing Equipment has been selling rods and equipment through its online store to customers in Australia.

All of these sales and all future growth will be handled by Assassin Tackle Australia Pty Ltd, which is now the sole distributor of these and all other brands belonging to Basil Manning Fishing.

So you guys make the GT icecreams! So where can I get a couple GT icecreams (skinny needle nose) in fluro pink in Perth? I first discovered these in the UAE fishing for dolphin fish and they were a very simple but deadly lure when dribbled along the surface. no doubt they will get popular over hear for those fishing the fads or shallow reefs.
