New To wickham

 Hi Guys,

Been in wickham for a couple of months, and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with some fishing tips and spots to catch some fish, i have tried down at the causeway ( think thats what its called) at sams bridge there but didnt get anything and ive got a trailcraft 680 so can go out and fish also had a play around but dont really know where to start, im not after anyone to just give me there spots as i appreciate they're hard to find but would just love some guidance to be able to catch something worthy to bring home and put on the table haha,

Also happy to take people out if they dont have a boat, and fish

Cheers

Plenty of good spots out from

Plenty of good spots out from Wickham but unfortunately have not fished there for quite a long time.

I use to launch the dinghy at back beach and head over to Delambre, shallow southern side has plenty of reefie's in shallow that are fun on lures, back side is quite deeper and have caught sailfish, mackeral and tuna, northern side has reef running for a long way north and contain all the normal trout, blue bone etc.

The area between Bezout and Delambre has plenty of good ground for a fish close in, plent of tricky/black snapper.

I think its Pearl Shoal straight out from Wickham, has it's days of good fishing, pick your tides and don't be scared to fish rubble ground and not the main shoals, I think one area is fish sanctuary so it should be marked with a small bouy (just dont fish it lol)

There is plenty of reef and small lumps further out and heading north all the way to Hedland, don't be put off you catch catfish, its a good sign your on the correct ground and not far from the reds.

If your going to dive for crays be wary of tigers and hammers, seen plenty and been harassed plenty times for the fish I have speared, not to mention the bronzie's.

Back beach use to be great for muddie's but I assume the pressure would be huge now, we use to walk the mangroves and you would see muddie's in the tidal pools and would be relatively easy to get, camping on back beach was really good too, just nice to unwind.

The causeway at Point Samson is hit and miss but have caught barra and jacks many a time, just need to suss the tides, I use to head down most days after work with a few lures and a can or two, you work out the area pretty quickly once you experience the tides.

I haven't even started on the creeks from Cossack to Whim Creek lol.

I only lived in Wickham for 12 months but fished it pretty hard and then moved to Dampier as the Mrs got a job with HI so Dampier is whole new topic lol.
