Ningaloo

Heading up to Ningaloo Station next month.
Staying at Point Billie, taking a 6 m boat up n after looking at navionics seems ok to launch n head out through the gaps in the reef.
One seems straight out n the other slightly n/w.
Any areas that might be a bit tricky? Is there other gaps in the reef people use ?
Any advice much appreciated.

Search is your friend
fishwrecked.com/forum/ningaloo-campout-2016 have a look at this old thread. Go down a bit and you will find another link to some Google earth pics I posted up, marked up with tracks through the reef and notes. Enjoy.
Oh, and what was said about the track. Road from bitumen varies, depending on how long since graded. The last 7 k's or so to the rope gate varies from awful to f'in hideous. The track from the homestead starts good ( claypan) then goes bad. Really bad corrugations in places. This stretch is never graded. Only roughly 16k's to Point Billie turn-off, though. Fresh water of generally good quality is available in the wells in the Norwegian Bay sandhills.

Ok thanks for that I've
found the link.
so the slightly n/w passage seems to be the better one .
As for the road in I've got a fair idea what it's like as I used to live on gnaraloo and while that track might not be as bad to drive in on its still no picnic !

Steady eddy going in
Launching on the rocks may need to fill in some holes, we pulled our boat out each day. Watch out for the bombies through the main channel but as you think head abit NW and there is an area you can steam over the reef on the right tide and also a similar area NNE to steam over. About 2 oclock from Point Billie rock ramp area.
Found Point Billie pretty baron when there have stayed at Sth Lefroy and this would be our preference, leaving the boat anchored unless bad weather coming in. Better beach swimming.
Yep plenty of bities, but its a beautiful place. Enjoy and look forward to some photos if able, enjoy?
