No more Liquor Barons for me

Not really fishing related, but beer and fishing kind of go together.

Just stoped at Liquor Barons in Carlisle to get a carton of Coopers Pale Ale which was supposed to be on sale for $44.99 which I thought is dollar or two cheaper than usual. So I picked up my carton to hear $46 at the counter. “It should be $45”, I said. “No, extra dollar for cold one mate, we pay $6000 every months for electricity”, the answer was. WTF? Well, it’s not really my problem, what your overheads are, is it? The board didn’t say “warm” and come on, it’s not like you buy this carton for $43 or so, I thought… Anyway, I payed that, because I dried out of beer at home. I will just make sure I will not come back. I hope that my “extra” dollar will help you with your power bill, Liquor Barons, because it was the last one you got from me.

I am sorry for my Friday whinge, but what happened with the old customer service and valuing the customer?

Tell me about the cost of beer here… Ridiculous. To make a pint costs about a dollar, it goes out of a brewery for some 2-2,50. And we all know how much it is in pubs…

100% agree. U brewit or similar is the way to go. Good tasting beer for half the price. Been doing it for a couple of years now.

The money I would save in a year would pay for a new stella.

No because boozle always advertise the wrong products for the wrong prices in the wrong weeks. It not about what some other website states its about what the company selling the piss advertises.

Fri, 2011-07-29 21:35

Coopers pale aint worth more than 40 I reckon, only ever buy it on special down the road. Id rate Max blonde about the same as the coopers and bout $35 at liquorland, not a bad beer for the price!

Will keep an eye on that boozle though, cheers!

Normally these places will have a sign saying $1.00 more for chilled cartons. I see it all the time.

At least half the time...

Sat, 2011-07-30 08:47

...you should be able to get Coopers pale for $42 or less...I believe that's the price at Liquorland at the moment, and if you go near a Dan Murphy's they will match any local price, or beat it. But get this...they only ever keep one carton in the cold room (at least the Mandurah one does) and when I asked why there weren't more they said that was their policy. Probably to make more room for all the crap most people drink.

Sometimes Woolie's Liquor has the 20% beer sale and then it comes down to less than 37-38 bucks.

Boozle's really good...I think there are only one or two outlets that don't get a guernsey on there...have never seen Cellarbrations listed but does cover almost all the others and yes, it is probably about 95% accurate in terms of price/dates of sale.

I remember buying it at Christmas Island for $32...that was the everyday price. Goes to show how much tax/duty the government scams, doesn't it? Especially when you consider that the freight up there would've made the price go up!

A dollar for chilling and your carrying on about it? Give it a break mate. If the beer wasn't on special and you needed it I am sure you would be complaining about the hike in price. Have you ever driven away from a petrol station after looking at the price and seeing an empty tank? Only have AMEX and they charge you a $2.00 fee for paying? There are positives and negatives for every business. Make your choices and get on with it.
