Depends on the weather

Depends on the weather really and tide, herring and gardies should be around, might be lucky to hook into salmon since there are still some roaming around there.

best place for gardies is at

best place for gardies is at the disable platform area and the parking next to the helicopter pad, just make sure its not a rough day, mornings seem to be good for them 7-8am if they aint biting then chances are you better move to the disabled area and fish there, the ones there seem to bite almost all the time.

Rigs

  • white small plastic berley cage to on the main line, snap swivel and then 3ft of 6-10lb mono or fluro to a long shank or tiny hook.
  • Float(very light ones that doesnt make a big splash when it lands),can be 3-5ft 6-10lb mono or fluro, tiny split shot and tiny hook(this is one of my favourite rigs and make sure berley up enough to keep them interested not feed them).

Bait

  • maggot,prawn

i find if your burley is constent they arent that fussy JMO.

ive used a massive float and the swim away to start with but if you start slowly winding in they'll come back for a look. and if they flow but dont hit it stop for a second or to, then continue the wind in and they should come in and eat it.

it works for me in busso.

I sorta do what danno does

i have a number 3-4 blob when fishing from the beach and a no.10 hook using maggots as bait. as danno said, the initial splash does scare them off a little, but as you start to slow roll back, they follow it in.

Works for me in Mandurah

Same sort of set up to Dicey, I use a small metal burly cage (with no float) instead. Usually use the smallest hook possible. I find that, once you burly them up, its best just to cast into the school and let your bait sink - sometimes a float doesn't sinker deep enough.

Try for a mulloway, apparently 3 were caught, around 18-19kg, during the week. Always the chance of snapper as well. pm, your email and I'll send you a good rig.

North Mole - Great Outing for My Son

Sat, 2022-12-31 09:07

Took my son out yesterday afternoon at about 4pm to Fremantle North Mole. Best fishing we had together at the North Mole - caught a few small snapper on squid.

Threw em back for another day!

The rocks werent over crowded and weather was beautiful.

what other species lurk out there?

its an old thread from the forum straith. I wouldnt be so gutted by the demersal ban if they lift the gardie ban! great fun. 5 years and counting. Southern gar is currently protected, not the northern Robust gar. Larger in profile with black dot towards the tail.
