Not fishing related/Elizabeth Quay parking racket
In summary
Went to Elizabeth quay
Waited 1 1/2 hours for sketchy meal at 'The Revely'
Back to car had $100 fine for "parking on land contrary to consent"
Following day visited Perth Council
Was told I'd parked contrary to "the sign" and had been fined at request of leaseholder
Lodged notice to contest on grounds there is no sign.
Visited spoke with leaseholder Indian restaurant
They confirmed no sign exists
Also confirmed they had made no such request
They have been fined themselves in fact
Council making at least many hundreds dollars / day from this
Fine was waived
City of Perth Parking Local Law part 2.2.1 states that
"The council may prohibit or regulate by signs or otherwise the stopping and parking of any vehicle and person, or both, but it is to do so consistently with the provisions of this local law."
My conclusion is this is a racket. Fight the power.

What land were you parked
What land were you parked on?
Quite often if you look at the local law under parking it will describe everything you need to know

I was parked out the front of that upstairs vege Indian place
Called annalaskia or something like that.
Various other cars there with no permits displayed.
When we got back half of them had $100 tickets.
One lady very upset. No signage at all looks OK to park there.
Indian restaurant bloke said it's an ongoing problem.
The council guys literally hide around the corner then zip out and ticket folks. City of Perth is creating a tourism blackspot.

Gee and they want us punters
Gee and they want us punters to come into the city and spend money lol
The grinches couldn't even agree to free Xmas parking to entice people in, why would you bother when there's nice air cond malls closer to home. Well done on the fine victory btw.

If you want people to come to where you are
You make the environment nice and friendly whilst still enforcing the law, but to do things which don't (by reading these posts break the law) then you really are not going to get a lot of people come when they get the feeling they are going to be preyed upon.

City of perth needs to pay
City of perth needs to pay for lizzy quay anyway it can. Haha we also went to the reveley last week and its clear you are paying a premium for location, coz its certainly not for the food/drinks/service. At least the titty show on the moored boats was interesting. Good job sticking it to them, its a shame you had to go to those lengths just to prove you were rite. Government organizations money hungry crooks the lot of them.

Good result
That's a great result but a lot of effort on your part involved to get it. I guess the PCC bank on people just paying the fine because they haven't got time for the hassle.
It's almost like parking officers work on commission ??
