Just heard there is a 2nd storm brewing???

Apparently a cracker too.

this system to our west at 999 millibar is the worry for me, what the hell is such a low doing that far south this time of the year??? and where is it going???

I can easily see us getting a few hard storm cells in the NW before end of Jan if this keeps up. Whats more have a look at the sea temp charts!!!! WTF we got some mighty hot water lazing around to feed those cyclones at the moment.

The reason they are so far

Thu, 2010-12-23 09:57

The reason they are so far south is because of the unusual warm waters! Good for fishing, but no good for anything else.

Hey Guys, Does anyone know

Wed, 2010-12-22 06:49

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know what the go is so far? I am supposed to be heading up that way on the 27th but judging by all the floods and road closures it looks like my chances are pretty slim??

Road closures

Wed, 2010-12-22 07:40

They say they will be shut till at least Christmas...but I'd say just keep an eye on the Main Roads website.

Or take Great Northern Highway (depends on where you're headed) my sister just left my place in Karratha to go to Perth.

been watching this formation on an international website.

Seems they predicting a monsoon type weather cell that could develop further into a cyclone in the next 6 days off Exmouth.

Yet Bom and others here are showing bugger-all

BOM always do it

Thu, 2010-12-23 09:16

BOM seems to be too conservative...they only have a 3 day forecast, I have a work login and their 7 day forecast tells a different story...

I hope it just cruises on past and gives the people around there a break...they need it.

with a bit of luck it will

Thu, 2010-12-23 10:20

with a bit of luck it will only wack Christmass island region and go onto the Indian Ocean,

BUT if the warm water keeps pushing south towards us, then it will follow and could end up closer to the coast than we would like for Exmouth to Kalbarri, even though the inlad farmers will have the welcome mat sign out for the rain

From the looks at the photos

Thu, 2010-12-23 17:19

From the looks at the photos floating around, it will be weeks before they fix the roads south of carnarvon,  they have been waashed away and created 2 metre deep gully's.  Main Roads are going to be busy over xmas.
