Ocean Fishing Help needed?

Hi Guys, Looking for a little help or experience , I have resently purchased a Quintrex 620 ocean sports, for family and fishing, I have been only on chareter boats to sea, so have no real knowledge for skippering out at sea, so if there is anyone out there that have a plan to head out on a good day in there boat if I could tag along with my boat (Safety in numbers) or if you have plenty of expieriance maybe come out with me for a days fishing, you can show me how to use the GPS and so forth correctly and any other tips would be muchly appriciated.

I have the perfect boat for it now just need the knowledge and do not want to just go like a bull at a gate, but looking forward to getting out there, so if anyones keen would love to hear from you.

Cheers Rickster

Nice boat Rickster. Hopefully you have obtained a skippers ticket. My advice would also be to do a basic nav course, which I did a few years back at Tafe. It will teach you how to read nav maps and plot courses which is a good precusrser to using a GPS. Going out on Melville waters on a weekend is good for an intro into the ocean as it can whip up a bit out there but reasonably safe. But if you can get someone with a little bit of experiance on board all the better, to show you how to tackle the swells ans seas etc. Hope this helps.

Thanks mate for the Navigation tip, this is certainly where I am lacking, I have a large screen Navman navagation/GPS and same size and make fishfinder/sounder, so have all the gear just want to be comfortable on using it correctly, I do not have time to do a tafe course as I travel internationally a lot with work, but hope I can someone with plenty of ocean time up there sleeve to jump me boat, I think actualllly doing would give me more benifits and knowledge, whats making me even more eager is there some nice tuna running out behind Rotto I am told :o) , well lets see If I can get some further feedback, thanks again for the tips buddy.

Cheers
