Offshore Angling Club of WA - October report
Firstly apologies for the delayed report!
The Offshore Angling Club of WA held their “Go Anywhere” October field day on 5/6th of October 2013. Conditions were less than ideal for those that ventured north of Perth with seaweed in ready supply.
A group of four club members fished Hill River and for their efforts were rewarded with Tailor ranging from mid 40s to low 30s, the latter thick at times, many of them were returned for fattening up. Joe aka 'mulloway joe' lifted the bar with a stonking 17kg+ Mulloway making the battle with the weed worthwhile.
The club’s veteran members spread out somewhat, initially investigating the Wilbinga area but on finding it unfishable they retreated to metro waters where they managed nothing of note this time round. That’sfishing!
One club member ventured south to the capes area and was rewarded with a decent mixed bag of fish, though mostly smaller species.
Junior members that braved the less than ideal conditions were rewarded with a nice tailor and school mulloway. It was great to see them out fishing and getting involved.
The field day however belonged to Joe, though he may not tops the points and win the day, his 17+ kg mulloway was awarded the Fish of the Month honours for October. Two months in a row a nice mulloway has been the centrepiece of the clubs field day bounty.
