Olympic Games

 Hi Guy's / Girls

This would be my first non fishing related topic but it just came to mind so thought I would put it out there.

I think we all have a favorite sport outside Fishing & footy and I guess an interest for how our aussie's or home country is going at the 2012 Games?.

My self I have had some time off work and have been able to watch a fare bit of the Boxing, was good to see a few get past the first 32 and the light heavy  weight Damien Hooper get the win over the American which is a big effort.

Little disappointing seeing the young aussie girl crying over a silver medal, but ha a lot of training and pressure there im sure.

Yep shes a winner alright.

Yep looking foward to anna meares and the other aussie cyclists.

Pretty disappointing for the aussies so far. Jeez the missile is a bit of a 'cocky' bloke, hope he wins but.

Damn right. Magnussenn sounded like another Mundine.

A bit of humility will go a long way. Hopefully he's learnt a lesson.

The funniest thing was , he talked himself up , then blew the relay , then blamed everyone heaping too much pressure on him.

Taylor Worth in Archery

Thu, 2012-08-02 05:46

Is a relative of my gf.  Won Gold in Delhi in the team events but not well in individual.  The AIS stopped worrying about archery after Delhi and this year the team didnt make this olympics, but he is participating as an Individual along with one other female who has been knocked out so he is the only Aussie left in the archery ranks.  Final is on Friday, but he is up against a legally blind person who shot nearly a perfect score in the heats.  Go Taylor.

Indoor volleyball is my vice. play it myself but i'd be the shortest player on the court if i ever wore the Aus jersery even at 6ft 3inch

Rowing is good and the sailing, love the track cycling, really anything with tactics, triathlon is good when it comes on. you can keep your swimming it doesn't interest me like it used to. Hockey, beach volleyball and field event (discuss, high jump etc) are good because you don't see them often

Synch swimming is good for a laugh, trying to smile while you're drowning...

Holy snappin' duck shit

Sat, 2012-08-04 21:25

Holy snappin' duck shit batman. I am so in awe of Michelle Jenneke. I had to watch it 3 times just to study her mighty fine technique. OMG. Seriously though its good to see an athelete who is actually enjoying her sport rather than the focused, drab faces we are so used to. Mind you, if I woke up and looked in the mirror every morning and saw that, I'd be pretty bloody happy too.

As Aussies loving an underdog

Sun, 2012-08-05 07:38

As Aussies loving an underdog , you got to be pleased for team GB.

That cycling was awesome with Pendleton vs Meares , and the rowing. Pure Class.

And as for Michelle Jenneke , she loves the camera eh.    She's def got "it"

Watching the final in mens

Sun, 2012-08-05 07:44

Watching the final in mens four rowing , Aussie came away with silver after rowing a very good race.

In the interview directly after , you'd have thought they came in Last.    Whats that about??

I have never seen anyone so dissapointed to be in second. ( maybe Magnusson was very close)

Think Australia have an "if you're not first , you're last" talladega motto or something.

I tend to agree with you.

I think the lead-in stats in the rowing showed that TGB were the ones to beat. Our guys rowed a great race but were beaten by a better team. The swimming was different in that some of our team had the form to win but couldn't get it together when it most counted. It will be interesting to see what comes out in the wash. Not too many parties for the swim team me thinks.

The women's Triathlon was a great watch.

i think but he made up for it and some, will be good to see the 200 now and weather he can take that out too.

Were down to just one boxer in the mens, Jeff Horn 64KG class with one more win he's in for a medal.

The womens boxing kicks off soon with australia only boxer coming from WA i believe! but i might be wrong there.
