One Big Knob
Friday is a bit of a slow news day, so you're going to have to forgive me for this.
I picked this up from Alan Tani, you would be most familiar with him from his fantastic rundowns on reel maintenance and modding and holiday snaps on wangler and other sites.
It was a breeze to fit, just centrepop the shaft of the old handle, drill out a pilot hold, 3mm bit, say 3mm deep, then bore that out with a couple of progressively larger bits until the washer drops off.
Once the washer is off you can wiggle the old handle out, you don't have to try and drill it out of the handle. I've seen people do that, and it doesn't end nicely for anyone but the Daiwa spares desk. The replacement has a cup-headed stainless steel allen key to lock it down.
Now, I just need something to do with it =)

oooo
Well they say every good reel needs a big knob on the end to catch fish,.....;-)
Looks good, I have the Saltiga Z30 with the standard handle..and wonder if that would be better off with more grip.

It takes a strong fish to swim against the current. Even a dead one can float with it

It was pretty cheap, bit
It was pretty cheap, bit under $35US landed. Its not going to keep the bling bling brigade happy, its just delrin and stainless steel Its not so obvious from the photo, but the grip is angled out (and down).
I'll review it further after it gets some use!

Its a Daiwa Catalina Stick
Its a Daiwa Catalina Stick 56B 8-10, I picked it up used but I already had the Saltist, it used to have 30lb on it, but I think I'll respool it with 50lb.
I'd love to know how it goes, ... anyone need a deckie Saturday?
