One for the mechanics, Nissan GQ gearbox exchange

Is it possible to swap a gearbox from a petrol GQ Patrol in to a GQ Patrol with a TD42 diesel'

Had a few answers back but they have all been from people who haven't actually done it. 'Can pick up a good petrol box for the right price but no sure it will fit.
The box that has to come out won't go in to 4th gear, whether its the syncro ring stopping it I won't know until I pull the box out and the top off for a look. Would rather have another box ready to go in.

Easy peasy, drop the back cross member and let the rear of the motor and gearbox hang down, and weld a bracket on to the top of the trolley jack so that you have the correct angle for when you put the other box in.
Use a dummy shaft to line the new clutch and pressure plate up then hopefully it will slide straight in.

Have done the odd few on the floor before.

Have never done a gearbox removal on a hoist so don't know any difference.
Done a couple of cruisers, one old landrover and the Nissan wagon I have now plus heaps of old Holdens, Falcons Chevs Vauxhalls when used to race hotrods and all done on the floor.

Just shows what softcocks mechanics are now, won't touch anything that's not on a hoist or if they will get their hands dirty.
