Open water dive tcket

Hi Guys, Just wondering about getting a dive ticket. My question is do you have to go through a dive school by requirement or are there private trainers who can take you through the course. If so does anyone know someone who is qualified to do so?

Padi instructors can teach privately, not to sure about ssi. Can't recomend anyone personaly but i think the wadivers site may have a directory of independants, diveoz definately do but i don't think its been updated in a long time. Might help to ask there those guys will be in the know.
