Operating bilge blowers
Submitted by Muppet on Wed, 2010-06-23 11:20
Guys, in need of some advice regarding bilge blower on my sterndrive. (tried a search but didnt get much)
The engine is a merc 350 MPI Horizon. I have been running the bilge blower whenever the boat is in use. a couple of minutes before it is started and then throughout operation.
I have since been told that I dont need to run it after the motor has been started. I am always cautious regarding the build up of fumes etc in the engine bay so, whats your thoughts.
Cheers
Kev.

Starting
Normally only run mine before I turn the key to start. Have it running while I get the boat setup ready to go.

used to turn it on after shutdown mainly
but that is a large engine room and diesel engine. petrol lets off more vapour so i would operate it whilst refuelling during start up and whilst underway but not making way and also during shutdown
FEEEISH ONNN!!!
