outrigger clips

Hey guys ,have just purchaced myself a set of outriggers,reelax bases pacific comp poles ext
i have never used outriggers before and have a few questions
when positioning your poles whilst trolling do you have the poles 90 degrees straight out from the side of the boat or do you angle
them slightly back towards the transom
secondly when setting the clip tension for trolling skirted lures are the outriggers actually supposed to set the hook or do they
just position the lure, release under minimal tension and the rod sets the the hook,any help would be appreciated

gday,
some boats angle them back slightly. This helps prevent any tangles in the rigging. secondly i as most people I think use tag lines when trolling lures. This is usually a heavy peice of mono, say 600lb the same length of your outrigger. Use rubber bands around your main line and knotted onto the end of this tag. this reduces the amount of slack line but still gives you the spread. You have to make sure the lacky bands you use are about 1/3 the breaking strain of the line. It is sort of hard to explain in words but if you google peter pakula this should bring up diagrams ect

Cheers for that info barneyboy,have just been to the website and found it really helpfull.i think i will definately go for the tag line setup,will just have to master the lacky band conection between tag line and main line thanks again mate

Iv'e just been out and set
Iv'e just been out and set my outriggers up with a tag line grabbed some lacky bands and setthem up they work great lackies break at 3-5 kg depending on thickness,i have a 300lb mono tag with a short rope end which is easyer to tie of,now to find some hungry billies.
