Parking Fees at Boat Ramps

I used the East Fremo ramp for the first time this year, was shocked at the $12.00 hit for parking.Frown What do you get for $12.00? an average ramp, no toilets and dick-heads that can't drive.

When did the council put up the price? Last time I used the ramp it was @ $7.00.Smile Can you get an a yearly pass for parking?.

Its $12 for parking for cars

Wed, 2009-08-05 16:05

Its $12 for parking for cars too pretty much. Theres free 3hr parking just across, but thats a bit useless if you're going fishing.

I think the only thing you get might be the location (maybe its closer to where you want to go).

Have Heared from an insider

Have Heared from an insider there that the East Freo council is wanting to get rid of the Boat Ramp and put town housing development there and the price rise is to stop people using the ramp so they can justify getting rid of it. Increasing council revenue by charging massive rates for the properties there.

Just another smack in the face for Boaties!

dont leave anything valuable in your car, and make sure you park away from everyone else, and use decorum when parking.

i have been triple parked (blocked in from front and behind) numerous times, and been trapped there for hours cos of the stupid retard mentality of some boat owners that dont know how to park their cars and trailers.

Fishos need to get more vocal

Fishos need to become more vocal to their local, state and federal members. The I Fish I Vote slogan needs to raised and splashed around at voting time.

Another joke...

Wed, 2009-08-05 19:12

...given that boat rego fees have basically doubled this year. I thought some of that money would go towards ramps? I suppose if it's a shire-owned ramp they can charge what they like.

The City of Fremantle Mayor

Wed, 2009-08-05 19:43

The City of Fremantle Mayor doesn't like people coming into Fremantle. That's why they do everything at their disposal to charge what some people earn in an hour for parking. That's probably why I don't shop or visit Fremantle. They maybe wanting to flog off the ramp to one of their developer mates or somethin so they can build expensive high profit buildings on the water front.
If you are looking for a bargain paying more than you saved in parking is not a bargain. City of Perth is good for that too. Then they spend millions on television advertising trying to get people in there. I feel sorry for the shop owners who pay good rent for a crap area.
Dont be surprised if boat ramps start disappearing. They've already built a pub at Hillary's on the water then built a million dollar bridge in the water across to the trailer parking so the pub users can take it all in summer. Its amazing what you can get done when you have a river of beer money going to the right places.
Cool

What happens next summer when the car park is full of beer drinkers this summer Laughing

Maybe boat ramps will be like that thng called the coastal caravan park, now multi-million dollar developments?

If paying for parking, was to become the accpetable thing, I would like to see, a whole carpark fenced off, entry through a boom gate and gate house, have people walking through between parked vehicles, keeping watch. Maybe that will keep the arseholes out, who vandalise cars, while they are out on their boats.$10.00 per day sounds reasonable.

Jim.

Night Club at Hillarys

Wed, 2009-08-05 21:02

I recall that there is a Nightclub at the Boat Harbour, it is possible you may run in one or two early morning/late night revellers.

Hopefully East Freo Council will come up with a similiar $100 scheme

If theres beers drinkers

Wed, 2009-08-05 21:14

If theres beers drinkers taking up the carpark at 6am when im launching, then i will be very worried.

Not everybody leaves at 6am. Some leave in the afternoon for an arvo or night fish for Tailor or a dive etc especially if the wind dies off.

My greatest concern is the knobheads at heart with a skinfull decide to knock off or kick some doors in on the way out.

Whats the fine worth?

Thu, 2009-08-06 07:37

If you dont pay 4 times thats 48 dollars in your pocket, might be a 50 dollar fine but how often would you get caught.

I have to admit i rarely pay for the ramp at hillarys and am yet to be fined once.

Hillarys Trailer parking

Fri, 2009-08-07 16:45

Some of you may remember my post on this site at the beginning of the year,it was to do with the (A)Cars parked in boat trailer bays before 12noon,and parked for free>I have had meetings with the harbor master and the dogs bodie from the ministers office>I now have in my possession a letter from simple simmon O'Brien stating that Only cars with boat trailers will be allowed in the yellow bays prior to 12noon,and that they will be finned if they do so?.As some have said,we are now subject to very steep increases in fees,we also pay our way for launching and parking,at least most of us do.and the cars parked after 12noon do not have too pay?why:We get finned $70.00 so Kane may want to revise his costs. I suggest that if you do care enough about this problem, phone up the ministers office, and the harbor master and keep the pressure up,or put up with the problem parking at Hillarys and then blame only your selves for being apathetic,I am still to see them stop cars which drive through, the launching area, not realizing that boats and trailers are being reversed, how will you feel if the leg of your out board gets taken off,or the side of the boat is rearranged, these drivers are too busily looking at the water and not paying attention to what is happening: If you think Im exaggerating then phone MR Bob Sleight from the BIA and formally all Boats RST instructors,he saw 3 trailers hit in 2 hours jersey
