Peaceful Bay - what can I expect to catch etc

Heading to Peaceful Bay early January and have never been there before. Just wondering what I can expect to catch and best places to go. I have 4X4 so all options available and will also be taking my Kayak to use in the inlet.

Thanks

Hi Iceman, my family has been

Hi Iceman, my family has been holidaying down that way for nearly 50 years and there are many different spots to try in and around the settlement in the secluded bays. If you can venture off road then the back beaches out in the Nornalup National Park towards Rame Head and the Kingey holes offer spectacular scenery and quality fishing.

The Bay itself can produce KGs and herring but if you venture down to the Inlet there are a few choice spots to try for silver bream and big skippy.

The Inlet is currently open to the ocean with fresh brackish water pouring out so a mulla could be lurking in the sea channels around there.

I,ve just returned from a quick reccie in early November and the Park is looking very clean and ready for the summer invasion.

Irwin inlet is the way to go,

Irwin inlet is the way to go, short drive along the beach to get there, and the deeper gutters around the mouth as the sun goes down are full of fish. I have pulled some horse KGW and flounder out of the mouth. Also plenty of Flathead and Black Bream.

That was only the mouth, not sure what the rest of the inlet is like, with access to the kayak I reckon you wil find some good fish up stream.

Tracks out to back beaches

Tue, 2016-12-06 13:22

Tracks out to back beaches will cop a hammering over the holiday period and tyre pressures need to be down to 12-15psi to negotiate some tougher stretches.

A couple of tracks have also been closed by Parks & Wildlife due to severe erosion over winter.

Good luck on the fishing front

Cheers
