Penguin Island do and don'ts anyone?

Hi,
just trying to work out what I can and can't do down between Pt Peron & Penguin Island.
I know there is a non-spear zone around the island, but how far out does it go? I was thinking of diving for abalone on a few the reef south of Pt Peron, or for crays off the island.
Is there a no boat-fish zone as well? Just in case we want to have a troll or a cast afterwards?
Ta,
till

I believe there isnt a 'no
I believe there isnt a 'no fish zone as such' but like any water body, must remian the legal distance from land. And from memory there is no landing on seal island. (Who would want to with those big teethed whales on it!!)
You will see many many cray pots out there at the moment so take it easy out there!
Cheers

Hmm there might be more than that going on out there. GF's folks said that they could no longer fish or pot where they used to, because of some exclusion zone and I'm positive there is a no-spear zone around the island too.
I sure don't want to dive with those seals, its the big boys club down there as well!

yeah i know there is a spear
yeah i know there is a spear fish exclusion zone, but you can fish where ever. and i didnt know there was a pot exclusion zone? there are pots everywhere out there.... only places i can think of pot exclusion is close up to point peron.
There are markers out there aswell, limiting boating areas.

Thats not bad, but the
Thats not bad, but the website says this;
Spearfishing is prohibited within certain zones and for divers using underwater breathing equipment.
But that map they reference has zones, but they don't define them. I guess we will just have to stick to the seaward side and to avoid any risk.

Have not seen any Craypots near Penguin, i went recently but maybe it was before the Season started ,,not sure ?? regulations change all the time.
On Edit > i see we now have a link,,thanks for that.
BTW> If its Abalone you want, thats where people go each sunday morning (Penguin) so theres no problems on that front.
