pgfc

Hey guys, just wanted to say that my partner and i were invited to the social night at the pgfc after posting a comment regaurding marlin being caught out at the rottnest trench and i must say we were made to feel more than welcome.Iwas a little concerned at first about joining the club as i thought it was for people with xos boats chasing xos fish, not the case at all.there where several tophies given out from previous events ,some being state records and one female angler with a world record. Most of these fish can be easily caught in a 5mtr boat with the right weather. There was even 500 dollars worth of ricter lures given away in a raffle (awsum)To sum it up if there is anyone out there that enjoys fishing for pelagics then i suggest you get down to one of ther social nights and check it out, even if you dont own a boat quite often there are guys looking for crew.

Thanks again to pgfc for a great night DIRT

Yeah was a top nite!

I popped in for a few coldies myself. Heard Rhyss Whittred and a guest from Taylor Marine give a talk about FLIR, Whitey from Jurien Seasport filled us in on the FAD program and its recent rewards, Sangeetha picked up a couple of plaques, including one for a world record SBT on 1kg line. Mark from Richter Lures presented it along with a couple of commemorative lures that Mark had made up with mention of the record embedded in the lure head.

Social Night

Thu, 2011-02-03 21:05

Dean, Jamie thanks for the good comments.  Its great to see new faces down at the club.  I think we had 6 new members join that night which was good for the sport.  There were about 90 people turn up and as you mentioned they got to enjoy some discussions from Whitey - Jurien bay.  Ross Newton about Reel teaser and the fish they caught between here and Jurien.  Mark Richter was a champion arranging the raffle prize for the night and Brendon who joined this week was the lucky man to take the prize.

As you mentioned new members that are either learning or dont have a boat get plenty of attention and we try and get them on a boat for a fish and hopefully become permanent crew. Our normal team "Reel Addiction" is boatless after mark sold his alot quicker than he thought and now we are waiting for the new one to arrive.  Guy Travis one of our members who has a hollywood boat being a 65 salthouse has been down right gratuitous and has allowed us the use of his boat for the weekend.  We have grabbbed one of our new members Ric to join us as well and get a feel of the fishing out at the trench.  Bloody hell what a start for a new member to get a gig on fully pimped out 65 salthouse.  We are all rather lucky.

Anyway rambling on a bit and got baits to rig for this weekends open.  For a change the weather wont affect us as it did before.

Cheers

PS Sangeeta got 2 state, australian and world records presented that night.  One was a salmon 4.87kg on 1kg and the other one was a 4.2kg SBT on 1kg.  Bloody good effort thats for sure.

Hey Tony I am going to make the most of this situation but if you want crew for a bluewater sorty give me a shout.  Will tweak your sounder pay for half the fuel ohh and bring some pizza ha ha.

Will text you over the weekend if there is action out there.  I think there is about 15 boats going out for the sailpast but I think that number will dwindle if this weather predicted for the weekend holds.

Cheers mate
