Plumbing Advice

Hoping there may be a plumber on the forums or someone who may have done something similar.
I've recently completed a home reno, which included removing all internal walls in the living areas, of which one of them had a gas bayonet on it for the gas heater. I've asked the plumber to put this bayonet on an external wall, however he will not do until I've re-installed the air vents.
My question is, is it still required to have an air vent both on the ceiling and on the wall at floor level, or only the floor level vent? I've heard conflicting stories and don't really want to cut a hole and put another vent in the newly painting ceiling if I can avoid it, but will if its required.
Any advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Tim

Yes
I believe the answer is yea.
Having recently done a reno as well I had to make sure I had both the wall and ceiling vents in place. The plumber checked everything before he finished and even changed the ceiling vent as apparently it wasn't big enough for current standards

If you have a plumber at your house, they are complled to check your existing ceiling vent size. Older (5years and older) units have thick sized material making up the squares which provides for an effective area that is too small for correct air flow. Old out of standard vents must be changed.
That was our expierance not too long ago.
Interanlly exhausting gas heaters can be very dangerous.

Yeah you need vents if there is a gas point..
its not a hard job, and you can easily do it yourself in 5 mins. go to Bunnings get the plastic vent which clip in and screws tight
they work better than the plaster ones imo

The question you need to ask is
The question you need to ask yourself is, do you want to risk your family suffering from hypoxia whilst sitting in a room with the heater on, or cut the hole in the ceiling to eliminate the risk .

thanks Fellas,
Meglodon, it was not that I didn't want to install vents, I was more asking weather 2 was still required as I'd heard conflicting views from different people.
Cheers, will install 2 vents
