Pneumatic Boat Seats
Submitted by Alan James on Mon, 2011-05-16 16:46
After the boss injured her back recently I am considering installing pneumatic boat seats. I have contacted Taylor Marine and Bias Boating and neither of them sell these seats (pedestals) or could put me onto anyone that did. I have googled 'pneumatic seats' without success. Has anyone seen these and if so where?

Kirby Marine
Contact Kirby marine in henderson. They installed them into our latest rescue boat so they will be able to advise supplier. be careful though if not set up correctly they can bottom out when you come of a wave and still damage your back.

Found this for ya
Hi Al,
Have a look at Springfield. They manufacture air suspension pedestals.
Whitworths sell springfield products, maybe they can order them in for you.

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

Queensland
There is someone in Queensland making suspension boat seats. I may have seen it a few months ago on Ebay. How to find them I don't know.

Truck seats ??
I thought I'd throw this out there as a cheaper alternative but I'm running a set of Bostrom truck suspension seats, there adjustable for weight and I added some hard foam/rubber as better bump stops for those odd waves that catch you out. They work awesome and I picked them up second hand from a trimmer ....

I Fitted some to the Leisure
I Fitted some to the Leisure cat because I drive the boat hard and don't like coming off that unsuspected wave. Pick carefully, mine was kab seat XL2 which were supposed to be designed for marine but they are crap and they have now taken it off there web site.
Make sure they can travel the full length and don't hit the seat boxes other wise they can jar your back.
The ones that I have are rated at 120kg fully adjusted, but bottom out on modorate waves.
So I got a couple of springs made from a place in ozzy park and fitted them now they are mint. I can actually back off the adjustment now to the right comfort.
I can sit down in any condition now and still maintain 23 knots in fairly heavy chop.

The model is Kab seat base
The model is Kab seat base XL2 which Leisure cat supplied and installed. Its knot on their web site anymore but this link shows one similar.

Ignore the actual seat as I used my seats with the base.
