G'Day fellas , i've joined a forum on fb some of you probably kow it. Anyway it's mostly to do with renovating older boats and quite a few of these guys are putting a pod on their reno. What r your opinions on pods and what benifits do they give ? these are fiberglass boats.

Fella I went to Gnaraloo
Fella I went to Gnaraloo with this year had one put on his old Chivers thunderbird Willo. Got rid of his inboard and put on a 115 Suzuki 4 stroke. I reckon it's the dog's bollocks.

Got one
I rebuilt a Penguin Phantom about five years ago Turned it into a sweet centre console ( Andy can vouch for me..:)
600 mm pod on rear
Its good , Clears up a shit ton of room down the back of the boat. Donk and all associated poo is off rear of boat out of harms way.
Only con I can think of is lack of buoyancy in bum of boat.
Make sure you've got more buoyancy than Donk / pod weight. Mines about even.
In hindsight I should have gone either a hull extension or a FULL WIDTH pod. An extra 60 litres of flotation on both sides of the pod would make a world of difference. Currently thinking of building two fibreglass boxes to sit on either side under the full width marlin board.
Apart from that it's all good

Can be a good thing. Can
Can be a good thing. Can also totally destroy a good boat. Depends on what you are looking for and how it's done.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

they can be good from all
they can be good from all stories ive heard. just make sure they do it spot on as it can throw the the balance of the boat out, full width better than narrow not just extra bouyancy but will help the ride.
do your research on where to go, there might be some dodgy ones out there

So basically other than looking cool they give yr boat better stability and floatation?Do they improve the ride? What would you have to fork out cash wise approx say for a full width pod. Also do you think they might get in the way if fighting a fish of the stern?

Theres a few guys on gumtree that
advertise pods (a couple do ali pods) another does fibreglass pods , the adds give a starting price - cant remember how much but I remember thinking prices weren't over the top. I wanna do one on a voyager marquis if I can locate one with a stuffed inboard down the track.

Personally, I reckon
Personally, I reckon replacing the transom with an integrated design is the better option.
