Spoil Bank

I too grew up there and I fished from the shore on both sides of the spoil bank, also use to go the 3 mile and 6 mile as well as 16 mile  All local creeks fished well and as the pirate said rock of ages and pretty pool were good .Incoming tide was always best. Get a throw net it will help. Welcome to a great town that can get bloody hot

 Hey mate, Hedland land based

Thu, 2016-12-01 04:28

Hey mate, Hedland land based can be very hit and miss, i personally target specific species at certain spots and at certain times of the year, tides obviously influence when particular spots can be fished too, the town jetty near sealanes is a good spot for black Jew, incoming tide is my favourite around a 6.5m, I don't fish there much anymore but my kit was 300lb handline, 24oz snapper lead and a 10/0 gamakatsu o'shannesey with a big slab of mullet, the reason for such heavy line is that the Jew will try to wrap the line around the pylons as you get them closer, they suffer from barotrauma pretty bad so often the ones that do that and bust off will usually die, also there are some big sharks that come through, my biggest was an 8ft bull, don't get me wrong, you can get them on rod and reel but I don't like knowing that if I bust off a Jew it's pretty much going float up out of sight and die, any questions don't hesitate to send a PM
