Prawn Trap(s)?

Hi guys,

Is there such a thing as a "prawn trap"?

I've done some research on google and haven't really been able to find anything that would fit what I'm looking for.

I have heard a lot about these things called "leader prawns" that spend a lot of time on the drop off near where I live, however I'm told the only way to get them is to dive at night. Not sure I feel like fighting off 3-5mtr noah's just to get a feed of big prawns... got me thinking if there were any alternative ways to catch them.

Keen to hear what you guys think!

The use of most traps/pots

The use of most traps/pots are banned by fisheries in WA.

I would think that if allowed you would use something like http://www.protoco.com/marine.html

Night diving with the snapper and GW's if you are game - I used to be but not now - best was a measured 9 inches in a bag of 20 all around and up to that length and the scallops were a good bycatch until the little  cyanide spill wiped em

Plenty of big prawns in the river at the moment! No GW's either... Might be a bull shark there, but in the last 22 years I haven't ever seen one...
