I'm also not a royalist but in awe of an incredible lady. As a 26 year old to take a job she didn't want and do it with such dedication and dignity for 70 years is almost unfathomable.
I think we should perminantly keep the Queen's Birthday public holiday in memorium and add a King's Birthday public holiday which will be aorund 14 Nov so will nicely bridge that big gap between the end of September and Xmas.
I like your thinking Frosty! I seriously think they should keep the Queen's Birthday as a memorium but doubt we'll get one for Charles' birthday. I'd like another in the June to September holiday drought!

RIP
Yes, I'm middle of the road but strongly of the opinion that it actually worked pretty good so don't change.
Now that she has passed, I'll reserve judgement.
Probably the best chance now for the colonies would be to Charles to move aside and William take over, and it would not suprise me if this happened.
For my Mum, who is Dutch Indonesian and grew up as a teenage orphan in a Japanese camp, QE has always been the legendary rock of stability.
My mum is almost the same age, and most upset this morning, as much from being reminded of her mortality I think.
