Quick question about water separator
Submitted by beeroclock on Sat, 2021-08-14 16:59
Hi all, I just emptied the clear bowl under the fuel/water separator for the first time using the little twist nozzle at the bottom, caught the fuel had a look all good no water. But when i tightened the little drain nozzle back closed and then pumped the fuel bulb which got hard and full no fuel goes back into the bowl. The fuel bulb has been installed between the separator and motor . How come fuel water separtaor doesnt refill when i pump the bulb. Should i run the motor and then pump the bulb to get fuel flow?. I wanna go out tomorrow so need help on this please cheers dave

Have you tried starting it
Have you tried starting it to see if the glass bowl fills up while it's running.

The fuel bulb got hard
The fuel bulb got hard because there was nowhere for the fuel to go at the engine.
As said you "should" see it fill up pretty quick once started, but watch it, the VST should get rid of the air as long as it runs long enough.
The bulb is better off being between tank and filter so you can bleed the air off the top of the filter but most boats don't have a convenient location for it.
