Quintrex boats
Submitted by Rodrat on Tue, 2008-02-12 13:55
HI All
I am looking at the quintrex 520 spirit cabin boat to buy.
Has anyone got one or know of any one who has one?
What are they like, pros or cons?
They come with the millenium hull which i have been told gives good stability and a great ride. is that true?
Thanks

You looking at new or second
You looking at new or second hand. I know tapout has a 560 cabin that he is selling. I thing he wants about 30K. I haven't been out with him yet but he has been out at the containers back of rotto when i have been there so can't be to bad a boat. He has a 90hp Honda so good fuel.
Have been out on my mates 455 runabout and they handle prety well. Same thing though with any tinny it will be a hard ride when punching through heavy seas. Have a look around and if you can arrange a test ride on an ordinary day to see how they handle.

ocean test!
Yeh agree with Steve, do a boat test in "open water" and when it's "average ie in the arvo"......best time to test a boat especially being a big commitment....all the best with your purchase!

i own a quinny
its not a millenium hul (could only wish) i have a coast runner 5m boat. good boat, handles well. It dos thump when heading into the seas but hey what ali doesnt, just drive to the conditions. Have been out on one millenium hull quiny and yes the milenium hull is stable and pushes the spray out wide so you dont cop too much over the front. I take my quinny out wide alot and it rocks. 40km in the old girl seams far but as lng as your comfortable and nnot nervous then you are all good just remeber that if you stay much longer after the seabreaze then it will be a rough and slappy ride back. i dont have a cabin tho just windscreen and controls. i fish two people on the one side and that is fine stability wise. One more thing when looking at these boats have a look at where you will mount things like your sounder and gps. as alot of them now have nt got room above on the dash to mount a decent size sounder. I do know a guy that just bought a 5m coast runner brand new and he has has to move the speed and rev gauges t the side of the boat so he could instal his new furuno into the dash as it wouldnt fit due to the windscreen. just another thought for you to consider. but all in all a lovely boat to own and easy to use with one person

quinny
hey guys i own a 620 freedom sport,we upgraded from the 5.8,this boat is actuall 6.35 in lengtch 5mm bottom and 4 mm sides, comes with 150 hp yammy 4 stroke, trim tabs which i love.. flared bow and millenium hull, all in all a great combination, at first the only downfall bout this rig i though it didnt hold enough fuel,120litres ,but we have motored all day around nato reefs etc, down to coral lumps and back in less than half a tank.. truly awesome boats, rocket launchers and 5 underfloor bunged,storage/kill tanks, deck wash and dual batteries equipped with the latest foruno sounder 8.5 inch fcv 585,and lowrance gps make this a mighty boat.. good thing is guys these things hold their value, after 1 yr with a 5.8 we got all out money back on upgrade..i think the hardcab cc is overall the meanest quinny out.. but $100,000
