Removing Nissan patrol liners

Somewhere in the near future I'm going to have to rebuild the 4.2 diesel in my Patrol but not sure if there is another way to remove the liners without sending the bare block down to Gero to have them bore them out and press the new ones in.
On some diesels its possible to run a lne of weld down the inside of the barrel shrinking it enough to slide the liner out

As being a dry liner it is
As being a dry liner it is best to fit a semi finished liner & then bore it out, as the parent bore maybe oval hence a finished liner will follow the ovality. Depends if you are going to keep the vehicle or flog it off, I would personally go the the semi finshed one if you are going to keep it. You can get some good rebuild kits from SMS Diesel. To answer your original question, yes we would run say half a dozen weld runs as it makes it easier to press the liner out (they tend to fall out)
This my personal opinion as I am a qualified engine reconditioner. your call mate.

Keeper
Its going to be a keeper so the engine may be taking a truck ride to Gero.

Head jobbie
Can do the head up here in Cvon, just need the barrels fitted and bored to suit pistons down there, sending the block down to Perth is another story to be looked at if price is right on freight.
