Rod repair - worth doing for snapped tip?
Submitted by dkonig82 on Tue, 2011-03-01 12:14
Well, finally had one of my rods snapped (a foot being the suspected culprit whilst it was in the boat cabin).
It was my bream rod, a Strudwick Soft Bod Finesse.
About the first 3 inches got snapped off the top of it.
Has anyone had any experience with repairing these things? Is the rod a piece of junk afterwards or can it be done well?
Any suggestions as to places to get it looked at?
Cheers
Dan

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

I would say it will loose its Finesse!!
But it will still function, but you will certainly note the difference. I snapped an favourite flicky's tip and had it fixed, but it never was the same, and now its parked in the shed!! Cant remember the exact model but it was a Sic Stic and I loved it prior to this.
Now I dont even use it as my squid rod (havent gone as far as a designated egi setup).

fix it and give it to some
fix it and give it to some kids they will love it
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

My mate snapped his light
My mate snapped his light beach rod once and was going to throw it out, so the old boy grabbed it and cut it near the break so it sleeved into each other like a 2 piece. Then smashed a bit of araldite in there, turned into his small boat rod. Not much flex in her, but does the job.
