Rottnest sea containers?
Submitted by Bush.man on Fri, 2009-12-04 15:25
Hi All
I have just arrived in Perth after living in NW for several years and was hoping to give jigging a go at the back of Rottnest. A friend was telling me about these sea containers that are suppose to be out there? Is anybody willing to tell me the co-ord's for these, if they are real? I understand if knowbody wants to tell me. I only intend to release the fish, that's if I manage to catch one! Cheers...

I think the following coordinates are common knowledge and have been posted on this site a number of times.
I can't vouch for the accuracy as it would seem 32 vessels are "stacked".
ADROIT 32.04.00 114.45.00
AGNES, BANKFIELDS, CAPE UTWAY, CARAVAN, CLEVEDON, CONCORDIA, COMMILES, COUNTY OF CAITHNESS, DRAGON, DUCHESS, ENTERPRISE, EUCLA, FREMANTLE, GOVERNOR, GUNGA, JUNEE, KIRKCUDBRIGHTSHIRE, KNOWSLEY, KOORDA, KOSVII, LOCHNESS, MARANDA, NIRIMBA, NORWHALE, PREMIER, ROCKINGHAM, ROBERT MOORE, SESA, SUBMARINE K.ll, SWAN, TAMERLANE, THORNLIEBANK, TOCOPILLA, 32.04.00 115.20.007

Welcome Bush.man. If you type rottnest containers or barges into search on the left here you will come up with all sorts of information from past years.

My first jigging experience...
Hi Guys, well I heading out to what I think was the barges area and managed to land a medium size Amberjeck. I also lost something much bigger. So a modest start to my Rottnest jigging experience. More likely beginnings luck??
Can someone tell me if the barges area is the same as the containers? I'm still confused and have no idea what I am looking for. Or is someone prepared to PM me the co-ord's for the containers?
Any advice gratefully accepted...

wrecks!
Most are all wrecks, the "containers" is a generic name and what ppl thought they were originally. The Navy chart 754 has the wrecks on em, popular chart in my shop that one!

I don't exactly know but I thought they were the same points. Best advice is head out on a weekend and see where the charters go, they are very easy to spot.
