After tipping the Hawks for the past two month I've finally had my fortunes turned around after a DOMINANT performance by the Hawks....
The game looked gone early with the umpires again HEAVILY involved early including a fucking pathetic 50m free kick gifting Carlton a goal...
I wonder what the stats are on 50m penalties awarded in the fwd half versus the def half??
While I know often things get heated when there is a shot on goal but to me it also seems the ideal time for the umpires to get a tiny little bulge in their pants blow the whistle, let everyone know they think they are in charge as for once in their life they can be dominant instead of when they are at home getting pegged....

The rest of the games the favourites should win and win reasonably easily one would think...
Adelaide dont have a midfield at the moment ( some would argue ever ) but have been playing better footy but the Roos should get the win
Sydney to push the Saints but under a good coach in Ratten the Saints should win
Eagles easily
Freo should go ok against the Pies but Freos backline is buggered
GC should push GWS but if the Giants are the real deal they need to start getting some solid form in this crazy year...

Good win for the Hawks though.
Big match for the Eagles tonight. I don't think the Cats will be easybeats, but a win in any form will be good.

I thought he had a big influence on the outcome
12 more hitouts to advantage including that gem to JK that resulted in a great goal, plus his follow up on some of his own hitouts to move the ball forward. Maybe he can work on pulling in a few more marks in games, but he does a lot of work and even Geelong's coach was impressed with Nic Nat.

Is it just me or has the AFL
Is it just me or has the AFL absolutely turned to shit in the past 5-8 years or so? Mega $ players that can run all day but cant tackle, cant handball effectively, cant kick a goal let alone hit a team mate. When the game goes for 80 minutes and most of the games' combined goals scored is less than double figures, there's something drastically wrong with the game. Plus most of the meathead commentators deadest need bullets.
Bring back the replayed games from the 80's and 90's that were being played a few months ago during lockdown, even though we know who wins, it's still waaaaaay better than the shit that's on at the moment.

The foot skills of the Hawks in their prime were far superior to those teams of the 80's and 90's, the Eagles at there best are also another great team by foot currently.
The in tight hand balling was never a skill the past players really had either ( as in with such speed ) I think the Bulldogs in their premiership year really upped the anti there...
Its easy to look at the negatives but i think the game is still very entertaining.
Richmond when on a roll are red hot as are Port and Brissi...
I probably listen to too much talk back radio, SEN and the abc mostly and here a lot of whinge about umpires which currently I think is warranted...
I think the umpires need to pay free kicks if the intent was there not the result...
By this I mean if a bloke is tackled below the shoulders but the arm is raised and ends up high its play on ( wasn't a dangerous tackle which is why high is a free ) In the back, same thing, if a player is tackled but then they both fall forward ( players are good at this to milk a free kick - play on ) A trip, bloke gets tackled around the waist but the tackle slips to the legs play on or holding the ball....
The one that really fucking shits me is the holding the ball where the tackler is trying to hold the ball in, they started paying that years ago and its a shit look... The intent of the tackler should be to execute a tackle good enough the player holding the ball cant get rid of it correctly. Now the tackler uses one hand to hold the player and the other to hold the ball under... Ball up I say, the tackler should be trying to also knock the ball out if he's got a hand he can use to hold the ball in ....
You'd think with the amount of umpires on the ground they would have enough eyes around to pay the genuine free kicks....
