rubber matting
Submitted by barramike on Sat, 2015-03-14 11:33
Have been seeing a type of rubber non slip matting on newer boats mostly around the side rails/gunnels usually grey in colour, just wondering if anyone knows what it is called and where I can buy it from. I will try and find some photos to post

If you're talking about the
If you're talking about the stuff on the gunnels and marlin boards etc as an alternative to non slip paint etc, you can buy at whitworths - comes in squares and pretty easy to cut down. Affixing it 'properly' is where some people get caught out. Once is down if done right it'll last for ages and looks smiko, but have seen it lifted a few times and looks crappolo (because it wasn't stuck down right or had poor surface prep). Pro shipwrights charge a fair bit to fit cause it's labour intensive to get correct.

I put the stuff on my trailcraft which ended up looking pretty good, i got mine in pre cut strips down mandurah near the marina. It was something like $50 for 2 strips. As Chris said whitworths also has it but its in different sizes.
