Rust?

I have a Rapalla Long Nose Plier/Braid Scissors kit and the pliers have copped some rust on the serated jaws. What's the best/easiest way to remove it? I could get some emmery paper (or similar) - but that would be a very fiddly job.

Any suggestions on alternatives?

Would proprietry rust remover do it - or is there a cheaper/simpler/better way?

Any of you guys heard of

Tue, 2008-11-04 09:14

Any of you guys heard of Deuthlon F4, I am not sure what it is composed of but they work wonders on pliers and reels. It's not a form of lubricant as such that you can replace for oil in your reels but it gives it a great protective coating and free up rusted pliers and scissors real well, I am not sure if it will remove the external / facial rust but it seem to dissolve away the rust between the moving parts to free it up so i guess it would do the same externally. I got mine when i was in Malaysia but they are used for guns as well so you might have some luck finding it at gun shops.

I was suprised how well it worked the first time i used it as it didn't feel all that special as it felt non greasy and coloured like tea with a little milk. I would highly recommend it if you can find some.

I've also tried to google it

I've also tried to google it with no info available. The label on the bottle i got just says it's a Holland Product and distributed by a malaysian company. I guess they might be marketed with a different brand or name in different countries.

Just be careful when using

Tue, 2008-11-04 11:01

Just be careful when using products like crc and inox etc on your fishing tackle. Its all fine but wipe up any excess straight away. If any gets on your hooks or lure split rings etc it really does put the fish off biting it. They hate the smell and ive seen two of the same lures in the water at once before and the same colour and one was getting hit every time and the other wasnt. The bloke you just changed the trebbles had lube all over his pliers . Changed the lure instant hook up.

Just a thought cheers spess. I use silicon spray insted.

Keep it tight, reeeeeeel tight!
