Salmon - Dunsborough?

hey guys,

been keeping an eye out on salmon reports, but all the reports seem to be coming from West End.

I'll be heading down to dunsborough this weekend with my boat in tow, what are the salmon reports like at the moment?

how hard is to find the schools.

quick question for all the boaties out there, will be launching at quindalup and heading towards bunker bay in search for these salmon.

are there any obstructions of reef that i should be careful of, reefs etc? i have a gps but my map only extends to busselton...so i just want to be sure

im sorry if this sounds like just another salmon question

When you leave Quindalup ramp head straight for the tip of land you see to the north west, this puts you near Eagle bay. From there just troll around 50 metres out off the rocks untill you reach Rocky point.
Salmon usually hang just north of the point and in off the last set of rocks on the beach andalso on the patch of reef half way round the bay,if you don't know what a school looks like have a lookat where the other boat anglers are casting at.Most often appear as a reddy brown patch in the water that rises with the waves unlike a reef that doesnt.

When heading back to the ramp you can troll all the way round or from Eagle bay aim for the left of the three tall pine trees that are about 1km west of the ramp.

birds may be present also.

if you plan to go around the cape then watch the weather as it has amind of its own......

should be some salmon around so good luck

its about 16km/10nm from Quindalup to bunkers.

depending on who has been usung the ramp it can get chewed up so have a look before you launch

i'll check google maps again.

but around the bay area there are not reefs that i should be aware of, maybe i should get a map on the gps just to be safe!

yes there are some reefs to be wary of Jorn .. west edge of eagle bay is very shallow with large bommies over 200m offshore and at rocky point there are 2 very large rocks where you are going to be trolling . with large swell you will see these 2 rocks easy but if not you can easily remove the bottom of your boat on them so be carefull .. id estimate them to be about 200m out off the rock wall . 1 is about half way along and te other more towards bunkers .

hope you have a great fish as there are lots of salmon around mate.
