Samson fish ID

Caught these two fish on different days South of Rotto. Can anyone confirm they are both samson fish despite the different appearance? One was caught around noon on an overcast day and the other was caught late afternoon which explains the difference in colours perhaps. I think picture 1 is a samson fish but not sure about the other fish.

Both Sambo's I recon. The second one is just skinny so does look a bit like and Amber, but too gold/brown for an Amberjack. Needs a good feed.

Sambo ID

I think it is 23-25 dorsal fins for samson fish and 29-35 for AJ's.  Samson fish also apparently have red flesh around their teeth and their eye is behind the jaw hinge whereas on an AJ the eye is in front of the jaw hinge.

Also the fattest part of the body is the head for sambos, its the gut for AJs.

Sambos look slimy, AJs look scaly.
