Sanctuary Cove boat show - Anyone Been?
With the Caribbean 2400 build looming closer (174 days but who’s counting) I'm contemplating my electronics fitout.
I'm pretty sure i'm going to go with Simrad S2009 with single or twin Go9XSE as chart plotter/controls. I have locked in the Merc 300 Verado as the donk of choice with a VV4 gauge!
I would really like to go to a boat show and see the latest and greatest regarding fitout and electronics. A quick google showed me that the sanctuary cove boat show is on in 1.5 weeks time. I've got a bucket ton of Qantas points and hotel points so can do the trip for next to no cost, but don't want to be left wanting...
- Has anyone been?
- Is it bigger than the Perth show?
- Am I naive to expect any deals better than the usual retailer pricing?
Other than the COVID state lockdown risk, I’m pretty open to having a boys weekend away with the young fella (8yr) on the gold coast, but would just like to know if anyone has any experience of this event… Pretty sure the daughter will be upset about being left a home with the misso so it will probably cost me a trip with her somewhere aswell.

It's pretty good
I've been twice, in 2015 and 2019.
Way bigger than the Perth show. If you aren't in a rush you can easily spend two days looking around. Quite a few on water demos etc.
Certainly geared more toward the bigger and more luxury boats but there is a good representation of trailer boats and outboard manufacturers as well.
If you can get accommodation at Sanctuary Cove itself it saves a heap of hassle with getting to and from the show, as it's not really close to anywhere else. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in and around the resort and marina area so you don't really have to go far. Plus there are a few things to keep the kids entertained as well.
Like any boat show there are probably deals to be had; your problem may be that there are only local dealers present at the show and they may not be able to help with someone in WA. Of course it depends on the brand/dealer setup - I know Furuno always has a big presence and will do deals at the show no matter where you are from.

Auckland boat show
im off to the Hutchwilco Auckland Boat Show on thurs, just a quick look at a few boat ideas.
Im a bit cynical on the deals though, I’ve never really seen any great deals other than maybe some shifting display gear on the last day.
My observation has been that the salespeople are bored with tyre kickers a few days into the show and can’t be bothered unless you are begging them to take your money.
On the last day they start packing up and you’ll get nothing out of them.
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Dropped some coin today
Had a great day! Was great to try out all of the major brands side by side. 4times larger than Perth at a guess. Show deals were on and beating the major retailers. Only online retailer I noticed with similar prices was...www.biasboating.com.au/
managed to match or beat these prices at the show in a bundle but these are pretty competitive with free shipping for anyone in the market.
