Saragosa 18000??
Submitted by symetre on Thu, 2011-06-30 19:33
Just a few questions on the Saragosa 18000:
What are peoples views on these as a sambo jigging reel?
How much 80lb am i likely to fit on the 18000, ie at least 300m?
Would the 18000 be better suited to the Shimano Deep Jig 200 or 400 rod if im running 80lb?
Cheers guys, looking to put a cheaper jigging combo together and the Saragosa seems to be the best option.

I have Gosa 18000 on a ugly stick blue water jig stick and it's tuff as nails, should have no probs getting that amount of line on. I use mine for jigging and bottom bouncing and caught some pretty descent size sambos, dhu's, pinkies and a few sharks.
Tight lines to all :)

Yeah great sambo jigging
Yeah great sambo jigging reel, I easily got 300m of PE6 80lb braid on mine plus at least another 150m of 60lb underneath.
I would prob go the deep 400 if you are running 80lb too. You'd be able to go hard with that combo.

Hate mine,
Looking to upgrade, or even downgrade it (okuma) at the moment. I personally wish I had just spent the money the first time so that I was not spending it twice.

Landed some bloody big fish
Landed some bloody big fish on mine. latest was a 40+kg shovelnose from the beach. I love it. Definately get a pe6-8 rod but I personaly dont like the deep jig 400. the 200 is alright but too light for that reel. The monster mesh max I think is nicer and probably cheaper too.

Yep,
I'd be going for the Daiwa Monster Mesh Max pe6-8 over the Deep Jig 400. Seen too many 400's snap for my liking, the 200 has a better curve but not really up to 80lb.
The Saragosa's are fine, there basically a beefed up Spheros and i've got a 14000FA that's 8yrs old and still going strong
WADRay your only having a cry coz you keep drooling over Clints Stella

I also have mine on a Monster Mesh PE6-8 too... recommend it, though haven't used a deep jig 400 so can't compare.

I love me Gosa 18000, loaded
I love me Gosa 18000, loaded with 400m of 80lb braid & then mono backing got it matched to an 80lb fin nor spin rod, nice light rod for it's rating with plenty of Balls. It was the only outift I used for my 2 weeks up at thev & I took 10 others. Handled some big fish no drama. For the price of them you can blow 3 up & still be about the same cost of 1 stella, & reckon you'd be going hard to blow 1 up.

Dont have an 18000
But why would I have every other Gosa and some pairs if I had so many choices. Money not an option but I am rough on gear. So didnt want to pansy the gear by going to Saltiga's or Stella's. Cant complain at all about the gosa's. I agree a beafed up Spheros rather than a beefed down Stella, but absolutlely awesome at what they do. I have owned/own 7 between me and the boss.
Love the Gosa.

PS but I love the Diawa rods better so I am not just a shim man.
