Saturday Oct 1....a mixed bag

Hi all

The weather was looking ok so we ditched our Saturday golf game in favour of getting out on the water again, so with my regular fishing/diving buddy, we hit the ramp at 6.30am and headed out thru the Cut to where I fished last Saturday. The water wasn't as calm which made our trip a bit slower. After a brief encounter with a whale, we arrived at the first spot and after sounding around and working out our drift, we got some baits in the water.

There were fish all over the sounder but nothing seemed real hungry, but we were getting continual bites but nothing big.

Then in quick succession my buddy caught an undersized pinky (30cm) and I caught an undesized dhuie (38cm)...both released to fight another day. Then I caught a nice sized skippy...hoping for a few more but not to be.

Decided to head out further to where I'd caught the nanny last Saturday and after a fruitless hour of drifing and moving the boat, I caught a nice nanny (44cms) while my buddy caught a nice blackarse (37cms).

Calling it a day, we headed home....came across another whale, pretty cool to see 2 in the 1 day!

Now here's the strange bit....when cleaning the nanny, I dragged what looks like a partly decomposed baby barracuda....correct me if I'm wrong...out of its stomach.....see the other photos. It was about 8" long and fairly jammed in there. Didn't know we got these down here, but maybe it's something that just looks like a 'cuda.

Back to reality today....mowing lawns.
