Scooping for crabs in the Swan River

Are there any spots in the Swan where I can go scoop for crabs? I know spots to drop nets but the young ones want to scoop because its more fun...
I've only scooped in Mandurah and never tried Swan before..

you could try along point
you could try along point walter sand bar. but not sure how u will go, i mainly use nets and have a beer at the same time, have not scoped for crabs in the river in my life sorry

How about down the Kwinana Freeway
South Perth / Como - lots of sand flats there !

Went there last week for a fish, lots of flatties, whiting and blowies but did not see 1 crab

you mean with all the birds
you mean with all the birds around? thats probably why the crabs dont hang around

The only place in the swan
The only place in the swan ive had any success scooping was off Pt walter, basically in the lights around the jetty and a little bit along the sandbar. Hvent bagged out there scooping, but used to manage to get a couple of good ones each time.
Tried a few other places but never had much success.

i have seen them pooring in
i have seen them pooring in under canning bridge on a big incoming tide. just scoop em as they come to you.

Im not sure what time of
Im not sure what time of year but i used to see tonnes around the como jetty, i think its called preston st jetty? you walk over a big white pedestrian crossing over the freeway to get to it. There were so many that while fishing off it near the end i plucked a swimmer out as it went by just to see if i could lol

i've been told that the long riverbank alongside the freeway from south perth to canning highway is a good spot for crabs and prawns
