Sending boat via Freight Truck to Karratha

Gday Guys,

Recently got offered a job up at Karratha and have taken it an will be moving there at the end of March. As i will be driving up and need to transport a fair bit off stuff i was wondering about sending my tinny up in a truck?

I realise this won't be a cheap option i just want to find out around about figures? What companies are the go etc?

I have no problem in towing it up, just if i can find some other way of getting my boat up there reasonably then it would be less of a hassle.

Thanks for any input.

Cheers,

Sam

Sam I looked into the same

Sam I looked into the same thing with my boat last year and no quotes came in at under $1200. I ended up towing it myself and pocketing the $500 change. Hit a few mates up to tow it for you, you pay the fuel and have a "welcome to Karratha" party when they get there.

I reckon tims on the money

I reckon tims on the money there. Surely you could entice a mate, or  couple of mates to  follow you up there, help you unpack and go for a quick fish. Throw in free booze and food and you're still in front cash wise.

I had a 94 Ford Fairmont

I had a 94 Ford Fairmont sent up for a little over $800 in total to Karratha by Ontraq Haulage in Belmont. They delivered to their depot in the Karratha LIA. I was happy with the service too and now have a set of wheels in Dampier for driving to work and into Ktown when the need arises.

cars are always cheaper than boats, i could have had a car sent melb to perth when i moved over from melb, was around $900, but a 15foot boat was quoted $2500

Boat to Karratha

Try Freo Machinery in Henderson. They generally have loads coming up this way and will be able to fit your boat in no worries. They bought my boat up here a short time ago and looked after it like it was their own, very impressed.

Sun, 2010-02-21 20:26

try ringing Star Freightlines they are based in maddington and being a smallish trucking company may do a good rate but anything less than $700 bucks from any company is a good price to get things north

Don't know when you used

Don't know when you used Eric last but he sold up some time ago. To be honest the new guy who took over won't be getting any more work from me, after tearing the back on a 660 Trailcraft..

Just had a 540 quoted at $1200 also..
