The fact that is battery powered and provides an active pulse may make it effective. A friend took a couple of Shark Banz to Exmouth but lost them both to sharks!
The Sharkbanz appear to work, but they aren't really cost effective.
We tried them on a charter at the Monties and the guys who used them got far fewer shark hits, but eventually the sharks got them. If they cost about $20 a pop they would be worth using.
We also found the electric reels have a much lower shark hit rate. I'm not sure why. Maybe the electrics have fewer pauses when bringing a caught fish to the boat. The sharks like to hit you on the pause (that applies to jigs too).
Mate ran a charter boat and had a good supply of empty goon bags, get a shark on, get him close to the boat , cut line and tie inflated goon bag on line then release shark to swim away with all his mates chasing after the goon bag whenever it popped up to the surface.
He would get about 1/2 to an hours grace before having to repeat process

If they are anything like the shark banz they will be useless. Lost one to sharks on the first fish in Coral Bay this year
Maybe they should trial them in our North West where there is no shortage of sharks . Most definitely not in danger of being fished out
