I am shocked! I had always regarded Haines Hunter highly and would have seriously considered on when I'm ready to move on from my Haines Signature (completely different company)

Ummmmmmm.... Wow!!!
If we ever hear a reply from Haines regarding this will be very interesting indeed!!
If I was HH, I would have offered full refund straight up and taken the boat off the market to bring her back up to scratch... (and kept it quiet)
No-one would have been the wiser, and if it did get out... they would have been praised for their aftermarket service etc and probably won a few more buyers/sales!!
Now the story is out there... HH will surely take a financial hit from this!!
With the amount of boat manufacturers and imports out there nowdays.. This would be the LAST thing you would want to happen if it was youre company!!

Wow!
Not what you want in a new boat.
I agree in the above. With a list like that, you would think that a full refund or replacement would have been offered.
Bit cheeky to offer a $20k go away/'good will' gesture.

Bad vibes from this could last a while... especially on the internet. Dumb handling by HH imo. Should have taken the boat back and replaced it with a new one

Spot on there Bruce. I had no problems at all with my 680. It was the 8m patriot that gave me the headaches. Woops.

Love my 8m Haines Hunter Patriot/SF
Mine's an older (1998) hull, but was repowered with twin DF200 Suzuki's
I love it !
I was trying to sell it a while ago, and a guy cam eto look at it who actually owned a newer version and highlighted sveeral differences betwen mine and his.
glad I didnt sell it - kids are now older, and looking forward to getting into it lots this summer

Damm
Damm, thats some bad quality work. You would think they would just refund the money and put that piece of crap though a giant shreder.

All it takes is one bad story
All it takes is one bad story like this these days , and once it gets around online like this ..... hmmmm
How many different makes have been blasted now.
It can only be good for the consumer however.
As a HH owner , I fully agree , they need to sort the mess out asap.
One of Aus premier boat manufacturers doesn't need to be behaving like this.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

He had prowlers. And they will sink when you leave them on a mooring through cyclone alerts.

Lemon law
What a shocker. Wonder if the lemon law applies to boats and not just cars. I built my boat , never built one before and I have had very little problems. Aluminum can be a better option sometimes as welding is stronger than screws. I have replace hinges from screws to welded and rod holders from plastic to Ali welded ones. I have found Ali boats easier to fix than fibo. With all the vibrations and forces on a boat it has to be over engineered to last, I think.

Haines Patriot 680
I love my Haines Patriot 680, purchased new approximately 2-3 years ago ...... its a " machine " and eats up the conditions!!!!
I average 300 plus hours a year in it and i've had a great run with mine
I've been offered deals by national boating companys to get rid of my Haines Patriot and use their boat ....... thanks but pass

I have an older Haines Hunter
I have an older Haines Hunter and all good, but when upgrading was thinking either another haines hunter or a cruisecraft.
Wouldn't touch a new Hunter now after seeing this.
There was a similar story with an Evolution boat a year or so with lots of probs on boat and poor aftercare, again story all over internet.
It amazes me how boatbuilders who rely on a reputation of making a high quality, top end product let things like this happen and allow it to get this far, you would think they would do everything to avoid his getting out in the internet. Do they even have a PR department!
They've lost my business .

This is one of the story's you do hear of, I know of a few more in Far North QLD to do with the same company it's more than deck hardware just remember when you spend 120K ask what materials are used in the hull layup and check for through bolts backing plates the more questions you ask the better.

and i thought i got burnt
not good mate , when I took delivery of my stacer northern fisher last year I was pissed of the day it was delivered I tilted down the console and all the wiring ripped out from the switch panel , granted the local dealer was over with in 45 minutes to fix it but I had only had the boat 1 hr and then I went over the finish of the boat which was crap and took to stacers face book page and left negative feedback. Guess what they (stacer) flew in to damage control rang me and had all the issues sorted within a week

yep this storey has been doing the rounds on the fishing forums out there.
One must wonder how anyone allowed it to get this far.
The reputation damage done would far out weigh the repair / replacement costs I would have thought.

Still going
It still hasn't been resolved, got a facebook page and heap of videos on youtube. Makes you wonder what haines hunter & john haber where thinking to let it get this out of hand. I think the dealer, marine tune, have got some questions to answer also.

Rob, wrong guy. denjohn has got a new edencraft that he's not happy with.

Shafter has had a haines hunter before & loved it. Just this one isn't to good.
I find it sad that this stuff has to make it to forums & isn't fixed asap by the dealer/manufacture before it gets out of hand. In the end there is no winners, alot of bad publicity, stress & aggravation for all party's.

Don't think I would want to let him buy my Lotto ticket for me, he doesn't seem to have much luck buying boats.

Problem was
Firstly with the fitout which was done by Marine Tune woeful. But looks like a few issues with the layup. People say the Haines factory in VIC is the best in the country and John Haber the owner is very hands on a inspects every boat before it leaves. Must have been on leave when this lemon left the guy was offered 20k to fix but i would want a total replacement or refund. I own a HH and when i upgrade to bigger i will be thinking twice about a HH after this definatly hurt the brand

the internet
The internet is a great way to high light dodgy products but you need to have your facts correct or you could end up on the end of a law suit . When I picked up my 5.3 stacer Nothernfisher C/C I was pissed of with the standard of finish and took to Stacers facebook page they had a stacer rep at my place checking boat with in 24 hours and to their credit fixed my the issues I had with it but if I had been bullshitting think they would have had a crack at me in court as they didn't like I had gone to their facebook page and gave me a private email add for future correspondence

As others have said I dont
As others have said I dont understand why they dont just fix it? IF This was my brand Id take the boat back and do what ever it took to ensure he was happy. Boats arent a cheap items and given the current market and influx of US imports Id be wanting to protect my brand and reputation....
