Shu Roo

Howdy all, we are buying a new car shortly and it will be a family car, so no bull bar on the front (XR6 Falcon) I'm looking at the electronic shu roo to put on the front. Anyone have any good, or bad, things to say about these.

Cheers

Dale

I find that bright spotties are better. The Shu roo makes them

run, and that could mean they run infront off the car. With bright spotties they just sit there and stare most of the time, and you can see them clearly. I prefer for them not to start bolting.

Hit 4 in my country life so far, and now have a big bullbar on the cruiser, but no bright spotties yet!!!!

I average one a year, but

Mon, 2011-04-04 16:15

I average one a year, but have always had some good bar work and lighting up front. With my new job that sees me driving home from Perth in the evening to Busso, getting in around 21:30ish, or so, I still see one or 2 on the old coast road. That's the main reason.

Cheers

Roo whistles

Mon, 2011-04-04 16:35

Had a couple of sets when they first came out, didn't make any difference IMO. Still used to clean up 3-4 a year travelling from Two Rocks to Muchea every day for work.  Good steel not ali roo bar would be the way to go.

I think the last thing they heard was a whisle blowing in their ears.

Lol @ above

I use to have 'hopi' (unsure of spelling) whistles which were good but basically ineffective once a bug was lodged in them. Belted a roo couple of nights ago just outside of busso which met some cold rolled steel also had 4 to choose from so got away lightly. However our mate in margie's smashed in the front of her commondoor the other night with a little one & yep she had roo whistles on

Had them on trucks and my last car.

dont seem to make any difference AT ALL. have done 30yrs of interstate driving and found them totally useless. last car had them, never hit a roo, but never hit one in this car after 8 trips to qld in last 5 yrs in the car. do have 1 golden rule when i see them. DROP the high beam. with high beam it will only stun their senses and blind them, sending them ANYWHERE or NOWHERE to sit and wait for you to collect them.

Bourbon

Bourbon's got it, drop the light as soon as you see them, works nearly every time. The low beam allows them to see where they are going instead of dazzling their eyesight, not like the last one I pulled up for. Was staring straight into the big pencil beam spotty from a distance of about a foot for at least a minute and a half untill I backed off and dropped the high beam. Felt sorry for it.

Stopped at the overlander

Fri, 2011-04-08 22:21

Stopped at the overlander last year and was talking to the truckie that delivers the west Australian papers..  The front of his truck was covered in blood and roo..  big steel bull bar bent and dented every where..  The guy travelling with us had just fitted the roo shu and sugestted he should get one.  The truckie laughed so loud I think they heard him in CArnavon..   He has one fitted and said he hit less roos with it turned off then on...
